Default Lost to a 12 wrx

So I raced my friends 12 wrx, same mods. He beat me badly from a 30 mph roll, and twice off the line. I run a 13.8 in the 1/4 mile. What do they run the 1/4 mile in? I'm guessing his would be lower 13's.

Are you talking STI or IMPREZA cause that makes a huge difference.

STI: completely stock will run something like low to mid 13's depending on altitude, weather and driver skill and such.

IMPREZA: Stock run something like 14's and 15's again depending on altitude, weather and driver skill.

Either way from a dig off the line you'll almost always lose to AWD every time but will catch him.

What gear were you in at 30mph?
At that slow of a rolling start he has the advantage with AWD and Boost!

Meh, you're car looks and sounds awesome. His is a 4 door vagina on steroids. And the way they sound...I had a '97 Neon with a dead cylinder; that's exactly what Subis sound like. Yeah he can brag but tell him it took a turbo AND AWD to beat your car. Times like this are when I call on my friend Blacksmoke to put the ricer in their place with his GT500.

Ok, just had to talk trash on your buddy's car. lol But seriously drag radials and other tractions goodies are your friend when lining up against an AWD car. Altitude can hurt your chances too when you're not running boost...I'm in Utah at 4500 feet and these guys walk all over me with basic mods. It's how much you feel like spending.

What do you mean my same mods? do you mean some mods or what? they can pick up a lot with a tune.. most of them claim some sort of stage of modification, such as stage 1 (tune) stage 2 (cai+turbo-back exhaust) stage 3(aftermarket turbo).. I think that's how they work, it's been awhile since I was involved with that crowd at all (a friend has an STI and he used to have a wrx). I think he had an '06 wrx so quite a bit different, at stage 2 I think I was a good bit faster with my '07 GT, cai+brenspeed tune + UDPs + CMDPs + 4.10 gears. I'd expect an older stage 2 wrx to run around a 13.0 or possibly even hit a 12.9 in the 1/4 mile. dunno about the 2012s.

So if it's about the same power after mods as the older models you might just need a few mods.... and in the WRX's defense, it can still drive in a foot of snow (which is why they are very popular here)

He had a tune, exhaust and a cai. I have the same mods. 30 roll I was in second. He pulled away really easy. From a stop he did the same. On the second dig I spun for awhile so he really pulled away.

It was an impreza. Raced in FL. So low elevation.

Well, the tune and exhaust are the power mods, the stock intake flows very well on the new wrx/sti.

Was it a custom tune? What kind of exhaust, turbo back, or cat back?

Why are you running 87oct? There is plenty of 93 in fla, unless the power gain isn't worth the price in gas.

those sti's are fast... my buddy has a sti ej207 and that thing hauls. depending on how much boost they're putting out those things fly. I never really want to find my self up against one.. unless its a stock wrx. but even before his swap on his tuned wrx he was still flying. i give much respect to subaru owners.

I would say he's running the 2.5L Turbo in his Subi.. which after a Tune, CAI & Exhaust he is probably easily putting down 300hp to the wheels and 300ft/lb to the wheels as well.

I believe the 08's with Tune, CAI & Exhaust are putting down about 300rwhp (with 93octane) I thought you were in a newer GT so that being said

so lets compare '08 GT vs 12 WRX (non STI)..

MUSTANG: Assuming 93 Bama Tune, CAI & Axleback (estimated)
HP = 290-310
TQ = 300-320
WT = 3500 (not including driver)
DT = RWD

IMPREZA WRX: Assuming 2.5L Turbo Tune, CAI & Catback (estimated)
HP = 290-310
TQ = 280-300
WT = 3200 (not including driver)
DT = AWD

Assuming my estimates are near actual numbers you guys are basically putting down the same power, assuming you guys (drivers) are about the same weight he's lighter and AWD.. turbo launches & AWD he's gonna take you based on the estimates..

Granted I'm assuming he is running near stock PSI +/- 2-3 PSI for the estimates outta the turbos and not tuned for 20+PSI which would just make the him pull even harder!
