Default 2014 GT500 vs 2014 corvette

so.. this video..

Pretty clear winner to me was the GT500, the guy in the vette hit the gas before he finished honking and looks like the gt500 was slow to respond or possibly spinning, but quickly overtook it. yet the youtube comments are full of how the corvette won.

Thoughts?

my comparison is pretty simple, doesn't take into account transmission/gearing/tires.. but..

460hp 3,444lbs corvette
vs
660hp 3852lbs gt500..

it's a no brainer in a straight line. obviously the vette should be better on a road course for several reasons.

Oh well.. I guess this is why I shouldn't read youtube comments and why I don't post youtube comments..

Woulda been ugly from a roll, gt500 came around him hard. Vette was an auto as well, making the launch much easier.

I saw that one awhile back and wasn't impressed by the C7. Like you said, the C7 was ***** out, hooking up, etc while the GT500 looked like he basically eased into it and ran him down. What really kills me is how the Vette driver has to repeat twice, "I was at 120 when I let out, I was at 120 when I let out", obviously trying to imply the 500 only blew by him because "he let out".

The GT500 has to ease into it's launch with those skinny tires. 200 HP more is pretty hard to overcome.

Agree with everyone above. Would have been quite ugly from a roll. Or comparing a manual c7 to a gt500 would also be a lot closer. My boss could only muster a 12.5 in his manual c7 as no matter what he tried he couldn't get it to hook at all. So that would be a much more "interesting" race. And yeah wtf, "I was at 120 when I let out"....Aren't corvette guys ALWAYS the ones saying well I would have came around you if we went past 140/160/180. Who the hell races to 120 the gt500 just got to 4th at that speed lol.

This.... C7 owners /fanboys also claim it looks incredible from every angle. "Look at the emperor's new clothes!" they shout.

I think he let out at 120 when the GT500 caught up.

Nice race. Car sounded good, and that launch looked very good for the C7.

We're still in 3rd at 120

The video speaks for itself, the auto Vette hooks hard and rolls out losing no time shifting. The GT500 fights for traction and can't utilize the power advantage until halfway through 1st. Then the game of catch up takes place.

It's scary how hard this car pulls going Into 3rd just shy of 100mph.

In a 1/4 mile drag race it would have been interesting.......Between those two guys.. On a side note. Have you used the launch control on your GT500 yet 72Mach? Would there be any advantage using it vs. just good driving? Every GT500 I've seen at Atco has had real impressive traps with less than stellar E/Ts. There always exciting to watch run but usally not for the right reasons.

The GT500 was all pulling like a freight train while the vette was still ***** out. You can clearly hear the vette let off when he saw the GT500 ready to pass. The vette drivers hand gesture made me think we was bitter that he got passed so fast! Lol! Got to admit the auto vette pulls out hard from a dig, though.
