Default Getting a new engine

Well guys it's time to junk the stock 5.0 for something bigger. The 5.0 did good. It ran in the 10s on spray and low 12s off. I'm moving up to a fully forged 363 Dart shp short block most likely from Fordstrokers. I'm thinking somewhere in the 10.5-11 to 1 compression range. I'll reuse my 190 CC heads and run a 750 CFM dominator carb. It's slow as hell in the SS section so lets hear predictions for what the new set up will run on motor and the 200 shot? ET & MPH guesses.

9.7s at 136mph. Lol don't know enough about that engine to estimate the hp, so just a random guess!

9.8 @ 140 on 200 pill of juice
11.6 @ 125 on motor

That is going to be one badass ride BB!

Did it pop or just building another? Are you on stock internals ? How much have you been spraying it? Are they hyper pistons ?

It held together. Its stock bottom end. Pistons were also stock. I sprayed it one time with the full 200 shot and about 8 times on the 50. Never got a roll bar so couldnt go all out without getting booted.I had electrical gremlins like you wouldnt believe so sinse im going carb ill do everything all at once. New motor. Rip out all the fuel injected crap and simplify things.

Ahhhhhh why settle for a smallish 5.0 when you can have 5.9. Ask any chic they'll tell ya bigger is better.

5.0 coyote is a well engineered engine, but it has absolutely nothing on that 363 Dart. Not even in the same league.

I'm going to guess 9.6-9.8 on spray.

dark block will be good for more than you can throw at it. I'm gonna say with your car and the car set up for strip, and with the heads you already have which will be a bit of a choking point with that new setup that you should be a solid 10 n/a, 10.8 or so. and a mid 9 on a 200 hit assuming you spray off the line. But I with the coyote argument a bolt on coyote longblock in your car would also be capable of high 10's. an old 363 vs the new 302 would be a really close one imo. But, I'm sure the new 5.0 is more work then most people want, with figuring out all the aspects of the swap.

That said I think I had just about the only bad experience there was with fordstrokers. I cant blame you for going there tho.

I agree the 190s will be a choke point. I have seen dyno pulls that managed 450 with the 190CC heads. I can always send them out for port work later on down the line. This years big expense will be the short block and hopefully enough left over for a 10 point cage.

The heads might be a bit small, but swapping them out down the road isn't that hard of a job, bit of a pain in the *** but not bad

I say mid 9's in the 130's as well, dood

I hear ya. Honestly. I'd just like to get the car to a place where I can play with it for a year without any problems. I've done head swaps enough that If I every wanted bigger heads it would be just a matter of buying them. they are an easy enough job.

That's why I love the old 5.0's, it's hard to find another car where swapping heads is considered an easy job, lol

gen 5 camaro's, g8's, and 97+ vettes are easier imo. Altho it's been a while since I've done heads on an old pushrod 5.0 lol.

Well with the dart block it just makes sense to go as big as I can. There's no added expense between a 331 and a 363 stroker. I cant wait to run a car all motor, all summer and still touch 10s without having to worry about the block cracking in half like an egg.
