A friend of mines called me today and told me that he's trading his 06 GT for a new Ford Ranger. The Rangers are nice vehicles but this guy loves to rip up and down the streets, so I had to ask why. He informed me that Fords putting the Coyote engine in the Ranger pickup trucks and it willl be AWD. Anyone else heard of this? Any idea on how fast this thing will be?

The project he's referring to is a one-off project by some custom shop: the Ranger was discontinued in the U.S. a couple of years ago and Ford is not brining it back anytime soon, let alone with a 5.0 in it.

I have a 2011 Ranger reg cab, short bed, 2.3 liter. I've searched high and low for turbo kits, motor swaps, all of it. I've come up with next to nothing. I've seen a couple on youtube with 5.0 pushrods, but nothing crazy fast or anything.

If only someone could figure out how to shoehorn an 03 Cobra engine/trans into one..

I'm sure it'd be possible. But, then your dd ranger would be faster than your gto.

Good god the memories.. I rebuilt the 3.0 back in tech school a few years ago.. ahhh the good ol' days.. I'd love to drop a 5.0 in there but doubt it'll fit lol
