Why are slicks easier on the differentials? I figure being able to do a hard launch was the hardest on the drivetrain and compared to drag radials, the slicks will hook harder.

Slicks have a lot more sidewall flex than a DR, and provides a little cushion on the launch.

Nice find OP! I'm kind of partial to the LS motors myself.

Point being, the Z28/SS cars can get it done!

Those hoosiers work great. Just get yourself a set of wheels to out them on and have fun! Slicks are easier on our differentials too, so thats a plus.
Thanks
90k miles, MINT condition. The control arms have light rust but I can just swap those out. I try to find errors with it, but there are none. Shocks are going out, that's about it. I love it! But now I wish I had a hard top...
12.8's on a bone stock 2.73 gear Z28? must be the Driver mod for sure! lol

I am eye balling those Hoosiers but if I run better than 13.5@99mph ( I will), I'll be kicked out until I get a stupid roll cage

Ditto.. I liked the MT ET Street bias ply racing tires as well ( pretty much a full on slick ) and it launched great on my 08 Mustang GT/supercharged.

Yes Kirk is correct. A slick at 12 psi will wrinkle like crazy compared to a stiff drag radial. The wrinkle absorbs a lot of force.

I noticed Drag ( Street ) Radials snap more than their Bias Ply cousins which are more like a true Slick which have more of a "bouncy" feeling to them off the line... I feel like such a sucker for selling my MT ET Streets I had now ( 26x8 tall tire, perfect for my car!), had that bitch in the shed for like three years, sold them last summer! Buah!

Just out of curiosity, any major differences between a 1997 LS1 C5 and 2001 C5 Corvette?

Out of Sheer Curiosity.. of course
