do I just take 3rd all the way up to redline in Drive and then let off?

How high does 3rd go to on the 2.73/3.23's? Not trying to go 150 but not trying to keep it at 120 either. I guess if it means saving the trans ( as well as...MY LIFE!!!) then Ok

Yeah just take 3rd all the way to the end then let off. The computer shouldn't let it shift into overdrive tho. As for speed, 3rd is a 1:1 gear, in 4th in my car(my 1:1) I can get up to about 130ish or so with a 3.73 and 26" tires at 6500rpm. with a 3.23 you should be able to get to ~145, and a 2.73 will be 160+. So plenty of mph out of a 3.23

Thanks for the tip

I was always unsure of how to shift up til now. I don't plan on ever seeing 145 in the LS1 though, 0-110/114 mph in the blink of an eye is fine though.

120 in this car feels kinda scary lol

Mine doesn't even shift out of 2nd until 97 mph with the 2.73s lol. But I do remember running right on past 120 mph in my SS with 3.73s in 3rd gear. Very long legs, these Ellis Juans!

Geezus! That actually sounds like it would be a lot of fun with a 150 shot and a 4000 stall!

I actually thought about that. A bigger stall would make up for the tall gearing. 4k is a lot of stall though for stock cam. I think something in the 3200 range with a good tire would be nasty..and then spray it down the track. That'd be getting damn close to some 10s!

can these engines withstand a 150 shot? Shoot.. I'd hack up the interior all day for a roll cage if it meant running 10's on NAHZ!

These engines can safely handle a 150. But I'd stick to 100 until you're ready to buy or build a tougher trans.

It's been done, so I'd like to try. As for your car, 3.73s, a stall, and some DRs on ZR1s equal this...

$3500, damn dude.
