3.73's and the stock stall still hook with street tires?
I think I figured out the launch a little better. Tap the throttle to make the rear end dip a little then nail it once I get the wheels spun a little.
Sounds like a pretty big difference with gearing alone. The ring and pinion in these cars must be easy to swap as well.

Yep, thats how its done! Just get that rear down and start feeding the throttle.
Its a big difference. Gives a mechanical torque advantage and gets into the power band that much quicker. Easy...nope. No gear swap is easy imo. Takes some know how to get them spaced right or they'll howl and whine so loud you'll wish you never messed with them.

I never driven a decent geared auto with 3 speeds before (OD locked out)
I was worried my 1st and 2nd will be very short leaving 3rd like a wide open gear til 135mph from 65mph, that would be a little weird
Ditto on the install. I haven't done many but I didn't mind the ones I did.

Got the 3.73s in. Big difference to say the least. Glad I went ahead and got it done too since both carrier bearings were toast. Diff oil was full of metal. Hoping for a 12.4-12.5 on street tires!

Whats the status on your favoh?

Yea, you have but this one is completely different than anything either of us is used to. The improvements that Ford has managed to pull off is pretty impressive. Did yall keep the SS?
