2013 Mustang GT -Boss intake (Drag Racing)
Hey guys I have a 13 Auto with 3.15's I have a buddy who is swapping intakes and will sell me his Boss 302 intake for a good price. My car gets Dragged now and then so my question is the added 500 Rpms, going to help me in the 1/4 mile & 1/2 mile.... I figure the small torque loss is no problem since I run all seasons 245 about to try 275/40/19 on a 19X8.5

The Boss intake only adds more power above ~5500rpm so you'll need to raise the rev limit to 7500rpm to gain any advantage from using it. It'll probably help more over the 1/2 mile than the 1/4, and the midrange torque loss from ~2700-5500rpm will only really affect you during the launch.

Ok, I am thinking about buy it $400 for the intake, Stock Airbox Adapter stuff. Side dress up panels, and the Strut Brace.
Most my buddy's when we drag we dig from 0-140 or a 40 - 140. I would bump my rev limiter up for sure. Our springs and Valves must be able to handle it I haven't heard of any issues with that. I think losing power from 2500-5500 would be ok since I Have to baby that part to get through it and can't use all the power there anyways. So I feel the added RPM's will be a bonus to the nice size displacement 5.0

I would put that $400 into something that improves traction, gearing, or helps that torque curve vs hurting it. If your car loses low/mid range TQ, its going to run slower through the 1/4. A solid torque curve is better than peak power in regards to drag racing. Ford put that intake on the Boss because its built for taking curves/road course,/etc and needs to stay up in the RPM for that type of racing. I wouldn't do it unless you're planning on a centri blower that'll benefit from it.

Wrong answer but I'm guessing you have no experience with these cars? My best N/A with the stock 3.15's is 11.2. So yes they work for drag racing just fine.
These autos require a pretty loose converter for the Boss Intake to be effective. If you're on the stock converter the Boss is not for you.

REALLY?.........do the coyote mustangs some how work differently than all other automobiles out there? Do they not benefit from the mechanical advantage that a steeper gear offers? You say 11.2 like you think that's fast. You'll have to explain this drag racing stuff to me I obliviously don't have as much experience as you. Oh and thanks for all your wisdom I feel like I totally wasted my money ordering an optional 3.55 gear with my 2015 order. Wonder why ford even offers optional gears like the3.55 or 3.73? After all the 3.15s must be the best gear ever, because......well you said so.

The fastest 2011-2014 N/A autos are all running a 3.15 or a 3.31 gear. The 6r80 already has steep gears in the transmission hence the reason steep rear gears are not needed here. That's what we're discussing here. No other car. Again it looks like you don't have any experience here. Nordy is the fastest with nothing but a 3.31 gear. Do some research if you don't believe me.

Dude we've (the regulars) had this discussion in the street and strip section before you'll post some times with a guy running 3.15. I'll post time with guys going just as fast if not faster with 3.73s. The transmission in your coyote isn't any different than the one in my Camaro SS. Same type of transmission gearing. Your barking up the wrong tree if you think I don't know what I'm talking about. Tell your hero nordy I said congrats.
