Default SCT xcal II

well a guy on my local craigslist has an xcal II for $75. He said he doesn't know if it is locked or not. I think I'm gonna go look at it tomorrow so how do i tell if it is locked or not once i get there? I also have a couple of questions about the device itself. does it have canned tunes on it for my car? i don't think it does, but i wanted to check. if it doesn't, would i be able to advance the spark and such myself? If not, could i just get an email tune from brenspeed? their tunes are $75 so i would be in 150 bucks with a custom tune so that would be a good deal.

Plug it into your car/his car/the computer, scroll down to device info and scroll around and find where it says "stat: " if it says "stat: locked" or "stat: aftermarket" it's locked, if it says "stat: stock" it's partially unlocked, you need to go plug it into a computer and finish unlocking it with LiveLoad 3, and if it says "Stat: Unused", then you're good. It probably won't have any canned tunes, so you'll have to order one from somewhere. You can't edit any settings until you have a tune.
