Since no one else has replied yet, let me give you my opinion from what I have read about these units. Once you load tunes on an SCT for one vehicle, the tuner is then matched to that vehicle's computer. It also stores the factory stock tune for that vehicle when you download a custom tune.

Therefore, if you want to get custom tunes for your Mustang, you would have to mate it to the Mustang and I am guessing loose the factory stock tune for the F-250. If it was me, I would buy another SCT tuner. Breenspeed has a sale on them right now at a great price. That way if you add anything to your diesel, you could easily get an updated tune and then you would have 3 new custom tunes on the new SCT for your Mustang too.

Again, just my opinion as I am learning too, however this is what I would do!

Good Luck,

Phil

Excellent! The SCT Tuner that I bought for my 08 will also work for my 11. So I am doing the same thing you are since I put the stock tune back in the 08 when I traded it in. Now I just have to wait to get some miles on my 11 to get the new tunes and CAI installed. Too bad it's darn near winter and my 5.0 is snoozing in my shop till spring!

Well, just a personal preference I guess. I just like to get about 1000 miles on my cars and bikes before I do any serious performance upgrades. That way I know that my engine is pretty well fully broke in. Plus, if I have any engine issues that I need warranty work on, I won't have to pull everything back off and reload the stock tune. By 1000 miles, I would think if there are going to be issues, they will start to show up by then.

Plus, I have a full tank of regular 87 octane gas in mine and I want to run a couple of tanks of 92 octane gas thru the car before I put in the 91 octane tune.

And, I will change the oil at 1000 miles and put in Royal Purple 5W20 full synthetic. Then come the updates!

Just being extra careful as I want this Mustang to last a long time & be trouble free!

Make sense?

I had an 07 GT with a Brenspeed tune in a SCT and transferred it to my 2011 GT after having Doug at Brenspeed build a 91 octane program for it. That is when my real problem showed up, it seems Ford did a reflash without making note of it. The new program did not work and nobody knew what code to use. Thankfully Doug knew what to do as he went work finding how to get the necessary info out of the Ford unit and between Doug and SCT they got my Stang working like a bullet.
Now I have a new problem, getting the power to the ground.
Those guys at Brenspeed and SCT know what they are doing, believe me.
P.S. My 5.0 GT only has 500 miles on it, if it is going to blow up, I want it to be under warranty.
