How low does your tank have to be if you want to refuel with a different octane?

You can mix it at any time. if you are wanting to change the tune to a higher octane fill it with the higher octane after the low fuel warning light comes on and then top it off at 3/4 to 1/2 tank before switching tunes to be safe.
