Default Do I need a tune?

Hey guys eventually I am going to build a mild 302. Stock bottom end with forged pistons. Probably a trick flow head and intake set up with a mild cam. Obviously I'll do exhaust offroad h pipe and flowmasters. I plan to keep it fuel injected, 65mm throttle body. It is currently speed density. So when I upgrade, I know that I will have to switch over to mass air. As far as a tune or custom chip, do I need anything like that? Will I be able to build this, get it timed and need any special air/fuel ratios? I don't plan to put out a ton of power. I plan maybe 300-350. I want it to be reliable and a weekend cruiser. Is this possible? Will the mass air sensor adjust this set up accordingly?

I've built and dealt with more aggressive 5.0s that never had any tuning done to them, and they ran well. Having an adjustable FPR and a distributor makes things a little simpler.

Best bet is to get it all together, and see how it runs and drives.
If it has idle issues, cruise issues, etc, then you should consider having a chip burned for it.

Good luck.

The foxbody computers are very adaptable to modifications made to the car... However, you will not reap the real benefits of your engine build, without a tune.
