Default why am i going through solenoids????

i have a 83, mustang 5.0, 5 speed, and i installed my stereo head unit, and noticed that the guy who previously owned the car had a lot of cut , and improperly sliced, and freely dangling electrical wires behind the dash. it doesn't look like anything from the steering column has been messed with , but i was wondering if this can make my solenoids go bad. the second question is i am working on restoring my mustang, but still use it as a daily driver, anyways where would be a good place to find schematics and the OEM wiring harnesses for everything in my car

hayes/chiltons manual will give you the schematics, or your local ford dealer may be able to help.

A starter solenoid will go bad if starter draws too much current.
Some parts sellers will test starter amp draw for free.

If you pull starter be sure and clean the wire terminals from batt to starter, and batt ground terminals.
