well what if i just get a bigger pipe right out of the muffler will it be loud?

yeah just changing the tail pipes to a bigger size will not make the exhaust much louder. Changing the muffler is the single most effective way to gain more sound.

Changing the tailpipes "WILL NOT" change the sound.

it can...they make "raspy" tips, my friend put them on his 5.0 and it made a difference

Changing only the tips wont do anything. I must have changed the tips on my stang atleast 3 times and didnt notice anything. Did it on a 6.0 diesel with magnaflow exh and didnt do anything. It is only a myth!

3" exhaust to put on a v6 is stupid, plain and simple. YOu will NEVER really make enough power to make the 3" piping worthwhile. IF YOU PLAN to go F/I than go 2.5" .....and thats about it.

Like AB said, 3" piping is way too large, you'll do more damage hp wise than you would good.
