302 vs 2.3L EFI Turbo
Hey guys, I'm at a real stumper here. I've got a '79.5 Cobra II that came with a 2.3 NA Turbo/5-speed Manual. Due to some bad judgement calls, the *cherry* motor that came with it was switched with a P.O.S. NA engine that they bolted the turbo to. Needless to say, that engine ate holes in itself.

Currently, ithas a 2.3L EFI Turbo/Auto out of a 94 or 96 Model. It fits perfectly, but I am going to have to go completely through it because it has been sitting for 8 years and all of the wires have been hacked out. Not to mention I don't have a brain to run the EFI, Turbo, or tranny. I have a mid-80s 302 that's in my daily driver, a fullsize Bronco, that I'm considering yanking to power the 'stang untill I get the money together to rebuild or crate an engine. Any thoughts? I'm already $3000+ into this car, and I'm on a budget. Would it be worth the time, cost, and effort tohook up the 2.3 or should I justswap out to the 5.0?

302 vs 2.3L EFI Turbo
I think it came out of a 94. I'm not too sure about the guy I got it from. He's not all there. I mean he sold me the engine and tranny for $100. I thought I was getting a good deal, right?

I'm pretty much decided on it now because I picked up a wrecked car to part from. I've got a fuel injected 302 from a 86 Bronco I'm putting in it. The previous owner's girlfriend centerpunched it around a metal guardrail at 65mph. *ouch* All of the accessories need new brackets, and the engine will need to have the cooling system flushed and a new water pump installed. But the wiring and everything else is still in good shape. I'm lucky that the motor mounts gave before the block did, otherwise I'd still be looking for a parts car. It's not leaking any oil, but I think I'm going to pull the pan and make sure there aren't any cracks inside.
