Default Will not stay running

Help!! I just replaced a blown head gasket in a 1999 mustang v6 3.8. Now it will start but dies and goes poof. I made sure the plugs are right and can't seem to find any missing connection. Stumped and really need the car to be running soon. If anyone can give give me some ideas without taking it back apart and starting over,I would really appreciate it.

How long does it stay running for? Security system with a fuel cut-off? Battery gets the car started, but the alternator keeps it running. If it is properly connected, try taking it to a local auto parts store and have them test your alternator. Good luck...

About half a minute..Don't think it has a security system with fuel cut off. (Hope not) Alternator is about a week old, just put it on before the head gasket blew.

I'm thinking intake manifold not on correctly so you have intake leak that causes the "poof".

Somehow I got it to quit with the "poof" noise and then realized it sounded like it wasn't getting enough gas..Did not know that you have to "bleed" the injector line. It had air in it. Car is running now, hopefully for a long time, it already has 191,000 on it.

i was gonna say check for air in the fuel rail but you got it! turn the key to on a couple times, but do not start the engine. Then release pressure fron the shraeder valve on the front drivers side of the fuel rail to bleed any air bubbles. Wear gloves though and wash your hands immediately. You don't want to almost have to go to the hospital for fuel poisoning like someone I know
