Best / Basic Upgrades for 99' 3.8L
Hi,
I have a stock 99' v6 3.8L. I am now to that stage where I want more power!
What are the three most basic / simple / inexpensive upgrades to increase my performance and sound.
The more specifics the better brand, supplier, how much it should cost, can I do it myself, etc, etc.
Things that I have seen come up alot are CIA's, duel exhaust, racing suspension, and chip upgrades/reprogramming.
Basically, what are three safe, and effective mods? What are the first few most basic upgrades that people do, when first getting into the game?

LSD?
Gears meaning upgraded tranny?
There's high flow vs standard, for cia's, is the extra $125 worth the money?
And, noob question, what does an under-drive pulley do?
Will any of this kill my gas mileage?
Also to have all of this put on, especially the exhaust, how much would it cost? Or how much could I do with the enlistment of my coworkers that do all their car upgrades and work themselves?

OK...
CAI- Cold air intake, simply a high flow tube that puts a better filter element out in the fender to draw in cold air. +~2-3 hp
UDP-Underdrive pulley. Its a pulley on the crank that will make the accessory pullies spin a little slower, thus more power being pushed to the crank, +~5-7hp
LSD- Limited slip differential. NO HP gains but better traction has both wheels spin instead of just one
Gears, lower gear ratio in the rear end, go with a better set up. 3.73's 4.10's. Basically means that for every turn at the crank there are 3.73 turns on the wheel, or 4.10 turns at the wheel etc. instead of the stock gearing. No HP gains but a big boost off the line.
Mileage, most will improve except the gears, this makes ur car run at a higher RPM thus dropping mileage about 1-2 MPG, depending on which gear ratio u go with.
Any other clarification lemme/us know

From what I've read, witha CAI, exhaust, and UDP, you will get more power to the wheels, but not really making any more, just sending more to the wheels, and with the UDP, if you drive like a normal person, you may see a small increase in mileage because of less power being sucked up by the accessories.

all of those will increase mileage, they make the engine run more efficiently, thus creating better fuel consumption.
