Need Exhaust Help? Sound like cobra?
I have recently purchased a 2000 v6 convertible. I want to change everything around so that it resembles and sounds like a cobra. I know that I will have to get true duals. However, I don't know whether to go with magnaflows or flowmasters.
Not to mention, I don't know which one, if any, will make a difference with the sound (x-pipe or y-pipe).
Furthermore, I wastold to change my headers.Arethere any recommendations for good performance headers?
Any help is greatly appreciated. I just want thestang to resemble the cobra as much as possible.

The cobra is a blown 4 valve V8 no matter what you do, your not gonna sound like that.
flowmaster or flowmaster clones made by Force are good choices. As far as headers go, long tube headers are going to be the only ones that will make any sound difference other wise the stock manifolds are good to about 300 hp.

Long tube headers will sound better but will never sound ike a V8 and they are not smog legal so if you live where you have to get inspections you won't pass. I like Magnaflows sound better than flows and I have had both. The Mags have a deeper rumble I think. As for X or H pipes all they do on these engines is take out some of the popping sound so either one will be fine.

yeah he is right you want the sound of a cobra buy a cobra but to make your v6 to sound good buy off road h-pipe with straights sounds the best...my buddy just did that to his car and i thought it would sound like crap but it sounds prolly as close as you can get to v8 car ....and if you a muffer instead buy magnaflow they are cheap and sound idential to the flowmasters

To sound like a Cobra, the setup you'll need is a for sale sign for the V6 and some more money. Possibly the newspaper to locate the Cobra you want to buy.
A V6 will never sound like a Cobra. Or a GT. Or anything with 8 cylinders.
