Default Intake manifold spacer

Everyone is trying to use the windstar manifold to get more tq. The only reason it makes so much more tq is it has a longer runner length (and more balanced flow...but I am ignoring that part now). I want to try stacking two or more upper intake manifold spacers, to extend the runner length, and checking to see if I get a big gain in tq. Anyone know where I can get a manifold spacer? I am looking for something in the range of 1/2" to 3/4".

Any ideas on materials? I think wood would be really easy and cheap but i dont think that wood belongs in an engine at all.my other idea was stack sheets of plexi-glass and but that out? Anyone got anything better.

you need to use either g10 phenolic plastic or aluminum. wood would probaably catch on fire and plexiglass would probably melt. it sounds like a pretty good idea. id like to see how it works out, you should see some pretty good gains. (the windstar aslo has a tb mounted in the middle up front to distribute air better and is made of plastic so it stays nice and cool.

You think so...I only thought the intake manifold got to like 150 maybe 175 degrees?

That woulda been funny to see plexiglass melted. Go to the for sale section on 3.8mustang .com and you'll see the intake spacers for sale. I dont think you'll see anymore gains than just one, too much of a runner can end up being a bad thing. but who knows until its tested.

dyno's have proven that usin a spacer more than 3/8 of an inch will give u no extra gains, in other words a 1/2" spacer will flow and give u just as much power as the 3/8"
the windstar also is made of plastic so it will be cooler and it has no burrs inside from the factory machining

thanks i am glad to hear that someone has actually tried that. And proved me wrong, otherwise i would have just wasted a bunch of money.
