I run 89 octane and it's gasohol (10% corn alcohol) because I like the fuel in my car to match the fuel in my body!

I personally don't think you should get a chip from VMP, I received my program from him, and it was terrible!! Also I use 93 octane for my setup. I have the SCT pro racer's package, so I tune my own car.

87 octane takes less heat to ignite as oppossed to 91. Only need to run higher octane if you change compression ratio, add nitrous, supercharger, turbo or screw with timing, etc. All those things change the heat range in the combustion chamber and 87 will detonate before a spark is present (detonation booom). 91 octane can withstand more heat(less volatile) so it will wait for that spark.
