Default what is your 6-cylinder mpg?

This is a two-part post/poll:

I just recently removed my Cobra rims and put on my snow tires and rims and saw a dramatic difference in MPG. Let me give you the rundown:

Car is a 2000 V6 auto with 20,000 miles
BEFORE:
(F) 18X9 265-35's
(R) 18X11 335-30's
MPG for 8 tanks ~ 17.14

NOW:
(F&R) 16X7 225-55's
MPG for 11 tanks ~ 21.01

Do big rims and tires make that much of a difference????

Second part:
Shouldn't my 6 be getting a little better mileage than 21 mpg? I was hoping for 25+. Lots of highway driving here. Prolly at the very least 70% of the miles put on the car are highway. Any way to get betternat??

I want to know what others are getting

I get around 21 MPG, but I have a 25% underdrive pulley that takes alot of drag off the engine. But I also have 4:10 gears which I'm told should hurt my MPG. I'm OK with 21 MPG. They do have a 35% reduction UDP listed for our cars now. [sm=smiley20.gif] I guess in the winter you could swap to a smaller fan belt that bypasses the AC. [sm=smiley24.gif]

idk my exact gas mpg, but i think i average abou t19-21 .....i can get up to about 290 miles on one tank. i used to get about 235 before i got my cai and my o2 sesnsors replaced. (105,000 miles on my car but all highway driving, is that bad???)

Our tanks have about 14.5 gallon capacity. At 235 per tank, that's roughly 16.1 mpg. Bad. At 290, you're looking at 20 (like you said, 19-21). I'm thinking that's about right. But I have seen stangs that consistently get in the mid-upper 20's and am wondering why I'm not.

And I'll ask again - do big rims and tires make THAT much difference? I mean, that's an 18% drop. With gas prices like they are and unlikely to subside, that's a pretty heavy price to pay for some bling - about 50 miles and $5-7 per tank.

I should add I put in those NGK quadra spark plugs with the 4 electrodes, can't remember the name because they were a promo and I got them free from my Stang speed shop guy. I've heard they aren't really much better, but I swear I noticed pick up and better MPG....I think...[sm=smiley36.gif] .....but I'm also one of those guys that feels like my car is faster after I wash it, LMAO!!!

OH, I just thought about something. The colder a car runs, the more fuel it dumps on newer model cars because of newer computer relying on the maff for it's signals. Maybe that has something to do with it.......Just a thought.
