Default 3.8 to 4.6 coversion 1999

I have a 1999 with a 3.8 60,000 miles anyway its's a nice car good on gas good looking now I have a 2003 4.6 sohc complete I was just wanting to know what all i would need to make the conversion happen my 99 has a auto and i want to keep an auto in it i want to do a few things to the v-8 but not to kill durability no nitrous or choppy cams etc.. I pretty much just want to make it a gt with a auto. Will the tranny out of the 3.8 bolt up to the 4.6? Are the wiring harnesses the same? computer? Also good price sites on what I might need? I'm new here and should be here a while this is mustang number 4 for me first v-6 kinda got out of them a little whille ago I had to fox body's practically break the bank especially the 351 conversion 1 but I know absolutely nothing of the new mustangs post 5.0 thanks for hearing me out and all answers are appreciated

trans will not work. different bellhousing
K-member will not work. different mounts
brake booster won't work
entire wireing harness won't work
radiator is too small
ECU is different
gauge cluster is different
PATS key will need reprogrammed
rear end needs upgraded with a detroit truetrac to handle the extra torque

there are other things but the above are the major ones. not really worth it. you could supercharger the V6 for about the same money and have alot more power

someone really needs to just make a sticky to end all these. its more cost effective to just sell your v6 and buy a GTthan it is to try to convert it to a v8...but if you REALLY want to and have the money heres how:

I'm sorry you are a confused person and thought I asked about cost effectiveness, but in all actuallity money isn't a problem I was thinking in the long term when the 6 is gone and if you read on I have a 4.6 sohc already and a radiator and the pipes I was just asking the question so i wouldn't have any suprises when I did it. Also if you need to end these posts so bad skip it and don't reply it's alot nicer than being a jerk. So I just need the wiring harness which I have also but I don't know if it's coomplete, the ecu, and the guages, tranny, the key and that should be it cobra 232 answered me perfectly thanks. About the rearend is that a option or a necessity because I want it to be bone stock and a daily driver speed doesn't matter I love my car and the look and would like to have it a while and I've got this junk 03 but they already sold the tranny out of it.

^^ I remember back when I still had an auto and asking about the 1-2 shift, you were going to see how long you could do it without something breaking. Well, i guess it does do some harm.

yeah you need to upgrade the stock rear. the stock open differential won't handle the extra torque not to mention it's and open differential which means only 1 wheel can recieve power. the detroit truetrac is an extremely durable unit and will provide years of driving with smooth traction. you will never know it it's a performance part. it is the best out there for smooth street driving or even hard track use. great unit and it makes the V6 7.5 rear handle alot more power than what you are aiming for.

if you find a similar GT rear for under $400 then i would be OK to swap it in even though the 7.5 with a detroit truetrac is stronger than a stock 8.8 GT rear. otherwise get a detroit truetrac for the stock rear and never have to worry about it again. no clutch packs to wear out and no friction modifier to add every time you service the rear ( every 30,000 miles). my vote it add the detroit truetrac.

here is alink for all the parts you will need to do the detroit

and the install kit
http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com...ll-inst-1.html

that's all you need to handle the 4.6 engine and actually alot more power than the stock 4.6 puts out
