Default new clutch/flywheel and now its worse?!

I just had Pep Boys put in a SPEC 1 clutch and SPEC flywheel in my 03 stang. It seems like the problems got worse after this was done. Now when I let out the clutch to go into first gear the car shakes violently like when you dont give it enough gas. I sometimes have to push 2k rpm to get 1st gear to not "die" out on me. I've done about 70 miles stop and go and then some high way driving for like 250 miles to break it in, but it just doesnt seem like one morning all this is going to go away. I put in a Short throw shifter before pep boys touched the car, and it was really tight, which was cool, but now its just looser than the village *****. I had them change out my fluid when they changed the clutch and flywheel, also the throwout bearing. Back when the car was under warranty ford replaced my syncros but i didnt have time to properly break them in. **** is pissing me off bad! and like randomly when i put it in gear it will gind it self out of gear, or i shift from 2nd to 3rd and let off the clutch and it will grind itself out too. Should i just buy a new ****ing tranny? or is there a 10$ part that could be doing all this? The car has 41k miles two previous owners. The old clutch was excessivly worn.

Also the Clutch is rated at 285 FT/LB torque and im putting out like 185 maybe, could that be a possible problem?

Give it another week. Your num one problem to me is PEP Boys, i personally hate them. If i ever do need to have a shop do somthing its My dealership, or a local small shop.

it sounds to me like you have a lightweight flywheel.... my buddys 328i bimmerdoes the same thing...

you needyour rpms up over 2k to get out of first thisis because you flywheel dropsquicker....
(droping your rpms quicker)

you just have to have higher rpms when you shift...and yeah your still going to have to break it it

*remeber it is best to break your clutch in the way you plan on using it for the rest of its life

I have a Spec Stage 2 and the Spec Billet Aluminum flywheel, the ultra light one, and I had zero issues with mine. I also have a Steeda Tri-ax and it's as tight as it was since day one.

Why in the hell are you shifting below 2k anyway? I think your problem is a loose nut behind the wheel, if not a bad connection between the steering wheel and the pedals.

you don't have to floor it to get over 2k rpm. Just take off normally and shift later.

+1 to Ryan.

I wouldn't trust Pep Boy's mechanics to even wipe a dead bug off my windshield. I'd take the car back to them and tell them to look over everything, I bet that they didn't torque something down right.

You will have to rev a little higher with a lightweight flywheel, but nothing much, and you should be shifting around 2000 RPMs always, too early and that can cause some problems, too late, and you're just wasting gas.

Are you saying that you have to rev it up to 2,000rpm to get it going in first gear, or are you saying that you have to get it up that high in first to shift? If you have to go to 2,000 to start moving on level ground, you are right,it is screwed up. However, if you are shifting into second before 2,000, then everyone else is right you need towait till at least 2,000. Wow let me type 2,000 one more time.
