Default Am I getting ripped on clutch installation cost?

I orderded a Spec Stage 1 clutch from americanmuscle.com and I called a local shop and asked for a price on installation and was quoted $410 for the installation, and $460 for installation and getting the flywheel machined. This sounded high, are they trying to rip me?

Not terribly high, it does take a few hours.

clutches are expensive to install, a few hrs of labor....i guess it depends on what part of the coun try you are in. im in raleigh, and ive had, like, four or five clutches installed in town over the years on a couple of different cars, and the prices have ranged from maybe 250.00-400.00 for installation. if you live in the sticks, im sure youd get a cheaper rate...

in my jeep, it cost $1000 to do the clutch, internal slave cylinder, and clutch master cylinder. it takes awhile, and the cold weather dosen't help the attiude of the mechanics any either.

I never had to pay more than $250 for mine, this last time I just installed it myself.
