Default Clicking sound from the engine, help needed

I recently purchased a 2002 V6 mustang with 98,000 miles on it. When started up after sitting it has a clicking or ticking sound coming from the drivers side of the engine. It goes away after a minute. Someone told me that it could be lifter noise. Is that serious? If so what needs to be done to fix it?

a lifter is serious but not that bad be cause its on the upper level so they'll need to take the intake manifold out and do work to it then

It's just oil running down after it sits and it takes a second to get back up to the lifters. A lot of stangs do it, you should be ok.

Im having the same problem, but my mustang is a 1998 4.6 liter, V8...automatic (sorry lol) it's a clicking sound that accelerates as I do, and decelerates the same, you can hear the clicking while its at an idle, too. No smoke, no sign of anything being broken, I talked to a mechanic over the phone, he actually said something in the fuel intake, but Saturday they're gonna actually look at it. I'll let you know what the verdict is!

and the lifter is only about 15 bucs or less, youll pay more for labor than the actual part

Mine's ticked since I got it. It also ticks faster as I speed up. But it really is only noticeable at higher revs. Im guessing my header isn't snug. they are hard to long being long tubes.

i have the same ticking briefly during cold startups. So I gonna try moble1 10w30 with Lucas or royal purple oil treatment BUT I researched and it makes all the sense that when oil pressure is up it stops. So I hope the key here is a oil filter with a BACK FLOW PREVENTER k&n and motorcraft make some nice oil filters that help keep the oil towards the top of the engine. I will update soon.
