Default 99-04 shaker question

i was browsing latemodelrestoration.com and came across a shaker system for 3.8L V6's for $795 and just had a few questions about them.

1) it says on '03-'04 models without the factory hood scoop, you need a GT style hood. my '04 has the protruding hood scoop. does that mean, i can have the shaker just fit right up inside that?

2) what kind of power gains would i be looking at with this? i know it probably won't be crazy but for like $800, it's gotta do something. somewhere between 25-50 hopefully?

3) do they produce any kind of sound? i'm a fan of hearing things work so i'd love if the thing gave off a hissing sound to catch some people's attention.

1.) umm... I can't exactly decipher your description on the hood. Find some pics.

2.) You'll actually only get about 5-8 rwhp - at the most. It's essentially a glorified CAI on steroids.

3.) They don't make any kind of different sound. However, the cool thing about them is that they are attached to the engine and independent from the hood. Therefore when you rev the engine, the scoop moves with the twist of the engine.

I wouldn't get one because they cost waaaaaaaay too much IMO. The looks/power are totally not worth it to me. Get wheels, a tuner, longtubes, gears, limited-slip diff., lowering springs, PS3, something for your gf/take a girl out, the ESP LTD KH-602, new jeans, cigars..... well that's taking it too far, but you catch my drift.

Actually you'll get about the same as a cai.

Yeah, and the "ram air" effect everyone talks about is false unless you are going like 70+ mph. So don't buy into that.

And if you have a 2004 model, the anniversary edition, the hood scoop goes down facing the windshield. You must have an aftermarket hood or something because all the other years go up and face forward. But either way it wont work with a stock V6 hood. Just my two cents.

yes the shaker kit will fit your hood, you will take off the scoop then you can sell it then you will put the shaker applique on over the holes and a new hole you will make.

the kit wont gain you any hp at all. it just looks cool. its also probably just as much or even cheaper if you find the right deals if you do an actual mach 1 hood and shaker instead of the kit.

right right. well that sucks ha. a question off topic here, latemodelrestoration.com seems to have everything known to man but i was wondering if there are any quarter window louvers or scoops out there for my model car or do they just make them for the S197's? the only thing i see on latemodelrestoration.com is an air duct.
