Default Brake Light Problem

Hi,

This is actually about my sisters 2001 v6 stang. It is an automatic and you can't shift it out of park. Coincidentally, the brake lights aren't working. Is there any way these problems are connected since you have to push on the brake to change gears. Please help me out, my brother is out driving my car until the problem is fixed and who knows what damage he will cause to it this time... I tried changing some fuses but to no avail, the bulbs themselves seem fine.

Default RE: Brake Light Problem

There is a electronicbrake pressure switch attached to the brake pedal ... unplug this, remove it & test it with a multi-meter. Odds are, this is not working no brake lights, and the'safety switch' prevents the shifter from coming out of park unless the key is on and the brake is depressed.
