Default Hood scoop w/3M?

I noticed Late Model Restoration had a good price on the following hood scoop, but was curious....will 3M tape really keep this on at high speeds?

If it's the red-backed trim and emblem tape, I would trust it, that **** will stick water to air... As long as the surface is treated properly.

When you say treated properly, does that just mean making sure it is clean?

I wouldn't trust it, only because I can see it flying off from air friction since it's going to be on your hood. It comes with bolts that you drill into the hood, just go grab some lock-nuts and youll be good. Also you gotta think about vibration being a factor.

i woudlnt trust it. it might stay but i would look for a factory scoop that uses bolts instead of 3m tape.

Properly treated, means extra extra clean, no wax, tire shine residue, hair grease, chicken grease etc... also some light use of extra fine sandpaper to scuff the clear coat in the attachment area also does wonders. and clean with alcohol. Most people don't go this far and that is why peoples stuff flies off. If the kit comes with bolts, best to use them as it is not designed to be held down with just adhesive.

Well, sounds like there are so pro's and con's. I'll probably just hold off and if I want to add the scoop, I'll go with the factory scoop. If for no other reason than piece of mind. Especially since it seems to be below zero temps here half the year lately.

Agreed, it would hold without a problem. But just make sure it is straight before you stick it.
