+1 on the prong tools, they make the job 2 seconds long and u don't have to fab up a coat hanger tool.

I tried to remove the bezels. The shifter bezel was easy but the radio bezel would come all the way out.

Oh crap, yours is still virgin, there is a bolt behind the radio that fastens the bezel to the dash frame. The radio or cd player has to come out first...

I'm pretty sure there are 2 little screws under the "divider" between the radio on top and whatever is on the bottom

yeah, they are way in the back. you will have to get the 2 radios or whatever there out first. as others said, just keep tryin...youll get it out

There is 3 screws holding the radio bezel, 2 under the top DIN and one inside the dash.

To the OP, if you are careful you can put the coat hangers in the holes and then use a butterknife to pop the radio(s) out. Thats what I did. Or you can go buy the special tools(which is a easier choice).
