Default Need Help 2000 Stereo Removal

I cant seem to remove the stereo on my 2000 mustang. I got the removal tools and it still will not come out. Any suggestions??

pop out your shifter bezel and then remove the radio bezel. If you don't put the tools in right, then you're screwed because you'll bend the locking tabs too far out.

Tools, what are these tools you speak of, I have a classic set of cut up coat hangers I have used for years...lol

As for the method, go with Ryan, that is all it takes.

+1 on the coat hangers. Just cause it won't come out easy doesn't mean it won't come out. Keep trying.

removal tool? what? on my 03 there were 4 bolts holding my radio in? i have the mach 460 tho? i had to remove the shifter bezel then radio bezel then 4 bolts and it came right out...

the advantage of the $2 tools are the hooks that make it easier to slide out the radio.

Like ryan said, be careful, because the alternative of making the radio come out isn't fun at all.

99-2000 had the smaller single DIN radio. 01+ uses the larger double DIN radio that bolted in.
