Default help with problem

so i was putting on my steeda x2 ball joints and while taking the arm of i scratched the power steering rubber cover. I have still not turned the car on but a lil bit of power steering fluid came out. I am going to replace it wensday but should i drive it till then?

what rubber cover? Are you talking about the hose?

the technical name for it is the bellows boot i belive , it is the rubber cover that is over the joint on the steering arm.

The boot on the rack where the tie rods come out? Yeah, you'll leak power steering fluid, but you can drive the car.

its an easy fix so i will see if my local part stores have it in stock. I seen that there was some sort of tube on the top, that should just slide off correct?

You can drive w/o power steering. You just gotta be strong enough to wrestle the wheel.

I believe you can replace just the boot.

You have to pull the outer tie rod to replace it, do not, repeat, do not buy a "Split Boot", nothing but trouble. If you drive in a dusty area or you are getting this lovely rain that we have on the east coast, drive it sparingly, with that open, the polished portion of the rack is open to the elements. Just like any other hydraulic cylinder, crap/scratches/etc on the shaft is very very bad.
