cold air will add a little sound to the exhaust and you can pick one up from americanmuscle for $80 bucks so its a few hp and better exhaust sound. You can't do it at home. But if you buy flows you'll probably spend $140ish for both mufflers and about $200-300 for the pipes on the exhaust itself. You can get knockoff flows or other cheaper mufflers so you will probably spend...$400ish total and I can almost gaurentee you'll be happy with the sound of it. Won't sound like longtubes but deffinatly good and $800 cheaper than full longtube setup lol. I don't have a gt rear or turndowns I just have the pipes coming out from under my bumper. If you want a little more rumble out of your exhaust, turn them down right after the mufflers, however you must check with your state regulations as in some states its illegal. Then you only have to pay for the mufflers and as well

Well i definately don't want to do anything illegal...lol
And im pretty sure my wallet would cry if i had to dish out more than 500...
so ive got some good input from everyone, and i think im going to go to the custom exhaust shop by my house tomorrow after work and talk to the exhaust dude man and get some prices...
I have tuition to pay for but this just seems way more exciting to me!!

Oh and i just saw this on the link mustang99v6 posted:

Why is it that the best tasting food is the stuff thats bad for you, and everything else that is most desirable is just illegal? aint that a bitch. lol

Well, I hate to be an enabler here, but I bet every person on this board has something illegal on their car. Be it tint, or non DOT lighting, everyone has got something. My advice to you for a decent set up for 500 or less would be a home-made CAI, a set of 94-97 factory shorties, weld shop fabbed up with a set of GT take off mufflers and your choice of how you handle tips/rear. If you need some help with it, PM me and I can give you some tips. good luck.

i wanted that same low growl with mine i gotta 02 v6 but after i got the flower master single chamber it sounds like a nice GT. it was definatly worth it cuz i only paid 130 for it. the only thing i dont recommend unless you like the loud rumbling inside the cab dont get it cut midway mines like that literally i think my exhaust pipe after my chamber is like 5 inches long. with a stereo it drowns it out but i recommend a Y if you commute or get annoyed really easiily

Don't get a y, they are the worst for sound and performance.

Wink RE: Exhaust help! Lots of Questions!

in my 95 3.8, I cut the y-section off & made my own h-pipe using the stock cats ,put turn downs on the ends of the H-pipe, no mufflers. very loud WOT but cruising was perfect with ZERO drone. then I sold it & bought a real mustang.... just my 2cents

Quick question and sorry to ask in the middle of a thread but what does "WOT" mean?
