So it goes years ago that a local delearship said they retarded the timing on my 00 Mustang due a TSB for valve cover issue, pre-ignition and carbon buildup. Well it seems that from the folks on this site I found the problem and fixed it. So I took it to another dealership to get it timed correctly after the fix. While in the service department the service writer comes back after approx 30 minutes and says "it has the latest computer updates" and they cannot go back to when it was originally programmed. I left scratching my head after he let me go for FREE! It may be my imagination but it seems to run and shift better. So, any thoughts on when the latest update for the ECM/PCM. This car has not been to a delaership since I had it reprogrammed in 2001. What am I missing?
I do not understand why he kept repeating himself that it has the latest updates, unless the former dealership had it so screwed up they felt sorry for me and fixed it for FREE, I doubt that. So, what gives?
