Default 4.10 rear end gears + t-lok

I was looking over this article, seeing as how I have a V6, I don't feel like dropping a whole lot into it. I figure if I'm gonna spend more than $500-600, I might as well sell it and get a GT or save for a Cobra. So my thoughts were I'd have the most fun from upgrading the rear gears to 4.10 and a t-lok. Now my question is, if I upgrade these 2 things are there any other components that I really should upgrade at the same time? It is an auto, and that guide talks about transmission coolers. Or would I be alright with everything the new rear gears and t-lok running with everything else stock? Thanks

You can run everything else stock. Don't forget installation costs. A transmission cooler is just a good idea because your tranny will be shifting more due to the quicker gears.

The local Mustang club has some great guys that are willing to help with the install. How much do transmission coolers run?

Under $100. They should be able to help you install that too. Wouldn't be a bad idea. B&M has one, look it up.

You're going to either need a Speed Cal spedometer corrector, the correct plastic speedo gear, or a tuner to fix the spedometer. I'd suggest the tuner Xcal or Diablo) Just so you'll get more out of the mod, but that'll run you another ~400 dollars

I'm sure between these guys, one of them must have a speedometer corrector. But I'll keep that in mind when inquiring to them.

Tunner are locked to one car. So I dont think anyone will be able to correct your speedo with their tuners, just a FYI

maybe he means a speedcal, but your best bet is to buy the correct gear ratio speedo crrector. its a little plastic gear you can buy. pretty sure late model resto has them

Yes they do but you will have to call them and ask them what color to get for the 8.8 4.10's as they dont list that on their website.

Do the '94 - '99 have an 8.8" rear end?
