Ryan are you Ok? -Tuesday's Oil Rig explosion-

Hey everyone, I'm fine, the platform I'm on is about 50 miles away from Deep Water Horizon. I'm on Anadarko Boomvang Spar right now, we got word of the incident shortly after it happened and had to start loaking for "floaters," which REALLY sucks. They found the final 11 people this morning holding on to 5gallon buckets to stay afloat, and as far as I know, there haven't been any fatalities, although some people were seriously injured.
I've spent a good bit of time on Horizon in the past with my old employer, and it's pretty safe. BP has very strict, almost rediculous, safety policies, so an incident like this is an EXTREMELY big deal. Found out about 5 minutes ago that a friend of mine was one of the missing 11 and he's ok.
I'm about 60 miles offshore right now in about 3500' of water, and we have no cell service, but Tims99GT and I work for the same company, he's in the office and I'm in the field, so my wife gets to call him and check on me when she can't get ahold of me. Apparently EVERYONE was panicing at home, because nobody knew where I was, they just knew I was going offshore, and until the helicopter landed, I didn't know the name of the location so I couldn't tell my wife.
Thank you everyone for the concern, I really do appreciate it.

I didn't realize it earlier, but when we thought it was just an overcast day, it was the smoke from the fire moving over our location.
When the incident occured, luckily, it was a very calm day in the area. The seas were almost flat and smooth, today the water started getting rough and the winds were picking up, which could have made a HUGE difference in the outcome of the whole situation.

Just got home from work, glad to hear that your ok and the other 11 are ok too.
It was bothering me all day that our section mod, great friend and new Father might be in trouble.
Btw, that thing is leaking some 6000 gallons of crude into the gulf an hour... Any idea on how long it might take them to cap it? Do you think gas prices are going to spike?
