Default k&n drop in vs cai

well my only mod so far has been dual exhaust with thrush, and deleting the air silencer, my air filter is worn out so i thought either a k&n drop in like people suggested so i looked them up and there like 50 bucks, and the american muscle cai is 70, so would it be worth the extra 20 for the cai, or just go with the drop in, and also whats the general gain from cai and k&n drop ins?

I cant tell you for sure which is better, however i cannot imagine buying the piping as well not improving your flow. I say go for the full CAI. I spent a fortune on the BBK cai one, and it was not worth it. But for 70-150 bucks i would say go for the full cai.

K&N drop in for a stock look, CAI for the performance look. They both perform the same.

even on the gt there is zero difference between a drop in and a CAI other than looks.

the ebay kits (the same as the no-brand CAI on AM) atleast for the GT's dont fit worth a CRAP. i bought one right after i got my car cuz i figured there was no difference between that and a 200$ intake and i was wrong. the flat metal shield thing that rests up against the fender didnt even bolt down it just kinda rattled around on the intake tube, the hoses kept slipping off the barbs of the intake so i had to use home depot worm drive clamps (which made it look even more cheap), etc... it stayed on the car for about two weeks. dont waste the $ on those off brand intakes, and definately dont waste the money on a 200+ intake that adds the same HP as a 40$ filter.

No real difference in performance. Expect to see a whopping 3 rwhp gain either way.

Yea keep it clean with the K&N filter and just remove your silencer.

I've got a MAC CAI in mine and I would recommend just going with a drop in filter. Its not worth the extra money unless you are wanting the aesthetics.
