Car seconds dies after start
Apparently I was dyslexic for a second there...lulz.
The car dies seconds after starting.
So, as the title says, I start my car and it runs for all of maybe 4 seconds...then it dies. This also happens if I give it any throttle. Seeing as it does indeed start, and run for but a moment, I'm thinking perhaps a fuel problem. I can hear the pump "humm" when I turn the key to "on" so I know it's working. I'm guessing fuel filter perhaps? Sound about right for one clogging? I honestly don't recall the last time I changed it.

pay attention to see if the theft light starts flashing when it does this, the key or box in the dash could be going out too. other than that, a good tune up should also be your next step, plugs wires, filters, and oil while your at it if some of that hasnt already been done.
after that you start looking at your basics, u need air, fuel, spark, and compression. clean the IAC, and MAF and IAT is you have one, check your fuel pressure and run sea foam to clean injectors. use a spark checker to make sure all cylinders have spark, check resistance on the wires with a multi meter, and then a compression test. one of the worse cases is your ECU or PCM or what ever it is could be failing

No PATS system on a '96. I did find the problem . . . the fuel pressure reg's vac line came off my intake, so it was fuel related as I figured, just in a round about sort of way. And My IAC wasn't operating fully, just gave it a little tap and I went back to normal. Anyway I'm changing my fuel filter now.
I just did the oil a week ago, I'll do plugs and wires next, I've always used Platinum +4's, what do you guys recommend? NGK Iridiums I would assume. But what about wires?
