FYI map lights dont come on when you open the door, the dome light does.

If the WD40 doesnt work, check the bulb, if that is fine, check the fuse. report back here if it still isnt working.

Ah I'm getting confused now. Dome lights and map lights arent the same thing? The lights on the headliner, with the two switches, one for passenger side one for driver. Each light turns on when I flip each switch. Is there actually a separate bulb in the middle of those two lights or something?

Yes behind those little lights, under the clear cover is the dome light. The two little lights are the map lights.

Have you tried turning the headlight switch all the way to the left? The dome light should turn on then.

Oh lord. I'm an idiot. I took off the dome light cover and there is no bulb in the middle! So I just went to buy the bulb, put it in, and apparently it just stays on constantly. So it's no wonder whoever had the car last took the bulb out. anyone know how to fix this?

Aaand I'm getting dumber by the minute. I had the headlight switch clicked over. That's why it was staying on. DOH. I swear I'm not a dumb girl haha. All fixed now though. Thanks to everyone that helped me out!

well, its getting cold outside again...****in reached down to the 40s the other day. almost can't wait for the snowy stuff............................almost i don't have a twitter account nor have i ever been to a twitter web page (update: i have), but if i ever did decide to take the plunge i will let you know by posting it in this awesome little box of text (update: not really)! i like tacos lol...though between crunchy tacos and soft tacos i cannot really say which one is better. sometimes, the mess a crunchy taco leaves behind is a little annoying while the soft taco just doesn't have the same taste... cake is so much better than pie no, srsly. **** pie. ****ing

Don't feel too bad. I once had an 'issue' that my interior lights remained on...turns out it was because the headlight switch was also turned all the way over.

I made a thread about it and everything.

I have 3 total lights for a dome light, 2 small ones on switches and one in the middle, the one in the middle comes on automatically when you open the door or manually if you turn the head light switch counter clockwise. Try rotating the headlight switch until you hear a click if the dome light comes on its the sensors in the door. If they dont come on it is either a blown fuse or a blown bulb. Or in my case when I first bought my mustang there wasn't the 3rd bulb because someone removed it and forgot to replace it
