Default My odometer randomly stops working? =[

Anyone know what might cause this? it's a 2000. I bought the car about 2 weeks ago and i am trying to figure out how many miles a tank of gas gets me, but it randomly shuts off on me and stops calculating my trip.

the gears in the cluster are probably going bad. Pull the cluster out and check em out... if the teeth are good then if im not mistaken grease will fix it

99+ are digital, no gears.

Take the cluster out and see if there is a loose connection. I had this happen to my 99 a couple times but never really thought much of it.

My trip odometer doesn't reset but my odometer usually flashes in and out from time to time... I usually hit the part where the odometer is and it flashes back on (yeah I have a cheap fix LOL) but I will read that link posted above... seems like it's a common issue.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a bad solder joint. Same one in your link.

Cool. Going to see if that is the issue Tuesday with some friends. Hope it is the problem if I take apart my whole gauge cluster =\.

It's worth a try. Here are the instructions for pulling the cluster: http://www.americanmuscle.com/mustan...es-how-to.html

Also, the bad solder joint was hard to see with the naked eye. I used a magnifying glass.

If you were closer I would pull your cluster. Maybe some of the other guys can help.
