2001 v6 intermitent loss of power upon acceleration, pop, and high rev
Ok, been searching the forum for the past 4 days and doing numerous searches......also new to the mustang forum, but familiar with serious explorations. This is what I have......
2001 v6
97,000 miles
automatic
70,000 on tranny
bbk cold air intake
changed plugs, wires, fuel filter, exhaust manifolds, new coil pack, cleaned maf with maf sensor cleaner,
and problem is this......I have at times zero power upon acceleration. Sometimes it takes off like it has been shot, good solid push you in the seat acceleration........and at other times it is so sluggish, rpm's rise but no go. at times it also does what I call a "stack fire", or pop from the passenger side. Auto Zones codes...... p1151, p1152, p1130, p0153, p0102, p0171. I am lost and feel as though I am chasing my tail. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Backfiring perhaps. Did you get a standard Motorcraft coil? If not then that is the first thing to fix. Also simply recheck all the plug wires. You've got codes showing lean and others showing rich and even a MAF code.
You can find a lot of code info here ... http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/ford/

Thanks for the response...... the coil pack is not motorcraft, it is the only on that auto zone here carries. I have gone over the codes and will look at the link you suggested. It is getting so frustrating..........but then too, when you buy a stang for a grand, that has the stalker body kit, cervini hood, but beat down by a teenager, what could one expect!!!??????

Well its warm today in va...... and went out in the stang after resetting the computer. Ran like pure **s. More hesitation on acceleration than just going..... Sometimes if I can feather the throttle it will do better but mostly it doesnt. Also if it matters, I know the guy I bought it from ran it with exhaust manifolds that were cracked on one side and cracked in half on the other. Still need help......!
