What do you mean the back of the speedo? The internal parts?

The entire back comes off, thats the ciruit board.

There are a couple write ups on how to do it.

all you have to do is get the pats reconfigured or disable the pats, your speedo will not be off as neo said it would (its ok neo ) Im living proof of this. Ive tested it on many of those construction speed readout things and the mach 1 cluster has been right on, even at different speeds. If you swap the circuit board, your speedo will be off.

A search should take care of that.

No, I meant if you only swapped the backs that things would be off.
Swapping clusters and taking care of PATS is all that needs to be done when going to a different non V6 cluster.

Yup, get a custom tune to turn your PATS off or maybe your local ford dealership can do it. I swapped a 03/04 cobra cluster into mine and the speedo/tach both read accurately and it worked fine with a tune...and look 10x better

shaun even swapped his with no problems to an 03/04 cobra back when he had his. what i learned a while back was there are a certain amount of volts the speedo reads at certain speeds, ex. 6 volts = 60 mph on a stock sixxer cluster (just and example). well if you then swap the sixxer circuit board to a mach 1 or cobra, at 60 mph the circuit board will read 6 volts and will position the needle at the sixxer 60 mph position, which will be about 70 on a mach 1 or cobra

dont believe me? try it.

Naw, its ok. Its typed words, we cant hear eachother to get the full jist of what we are trying to say and sometimes its hard to get the right idea.

I did make a mistake about it while back though in that other thread you posted though.
