2004 mustang won't start or stay running after jumpstarting after being stored
Finchhaven1@fuse.netcheryladay: Hello! I have a 2004 Mustang v6 convertible which has sat in the garage over Winter. I've started it every month and put sta-bil in it before storing it. I had a new battery put in it last Fall , an AC Delco. It was dead about 3 weeks ago so we used our portable jumpstarter and got it started. ran fine. Now all is dead including the door locks, trunk realease, all buzzers etc. We used the jumpstarter again today and got it started several times but it would quit after about 20 seconds. 6 mins 18 secs ago

2004 dead Mustang
I talked to our mechanic this morning and he said that if that battery is that dead, to put it on a charger for 24 hours. He said that they won't keep running on low voltage, and will die just as mine does. Hopefully he's right. Am going to put the charger on it, and keep my fingers crossed. Last Winter the battery kept going dead, but not as dead as this one. That's why I purchased a new battery before "putting her away".
I"m still wondering if that anti-theft device's blinking light is drawing too much juice from the battery, somehow? Does anyone know if it can be disabled for storage?

Just put a new battery in last Fall. It's on the charger on 2 amps now. Will charge it all day, perhaps even thru the night. I did notice that when I hooked up the charger that the lights on the rearview mirror were turned on. I got in an turned them off. Chances are that's what drained my new battery. I don't remember turning them on, but maybe one of the kids were fooling around inside?? I'll definatly make sure it's[IMG][/IMG] locked from now on........

Good News! :0)
Good News! after having a battery charger hooked up for 24 hours on a 2 amp setting, car started right up after I unplugged the charger and removed the cables.
Alternator gauge looks to be working fine, and is showing a positive charge.
After reading about alternator's effect on batteries, (draining them), I'll be watching that gauge whenever I drive it.
If this crappy snizzle (snow and drizzle mixed) ever decides to quit, I'll bring her out of the garage for a test drive soon.
Thanks to all that posted replies.
