Overheated even after new T stat install.. Help

He didnt bleed the system... that is more than likely an air pocket... which would cause you to overheat.

Start the car and slowly loosen off the bleeder plug, wait until there is a steady flow of coolant and tighten it back up... top off rad and you should be good.

I think Fink has hit this one spot on. When you changed the thermo you created a air pocket in the cooling system. The air will not open the thermo causing the over heating. Perge the system and tell us how it does.
