I'm looking to fuel inject my jeep using possibly ford or gm efi. It's an inline 6 cylinder. Does the 3.8l use a crank sensor or a cam sensor for the efi? Or something else? Also how smart is the computer to mods? The 5.0l computer is known for being very smart to mods

It's not smart by any means, it just uses very specific programing. The OBD I ecus are like Pentium 2 processors, better than Pentium 1s, and light years above the old MACs, but far short of todays OBD II systems which are like I3, I5, and I7 processors. In short they are night and day.

The reason the 94/95 OBD I ecus are so touchy is because they were programed for a 115* lobe separation, which is different than the 87-93 5.0s which were programmed for 113* lobe separation. Other than that, they adjust pretty well to air flow and fuel needs up to the limits on the injectors/ignition.

They are basic ECUs in that they have general parameters which are used to control the car. These parameters are flexible and not nearly as touchy as modern cars where every little thing is so fine tuned that nothing can be done without adjusting that parameter.

Now with that said, you can't swap ECUs around from car to car. The Mustang uses it's own wiring harness with it's ECU made to run a certain motor with certain parts.

A 94 stang is obd1? My connector looks just like an obd2 connector...

94/95 5.0s and V6s use an OBD I computer. The 94/95 5.0s have the OBD port inside the car under the drivers side dash but it has no use. The OBD port for the 5.0 is actually in the engine bay near the firewall on the passenger side. The 94/95 V6s do use that port however it's still an OBD I system. It's not till 96 where you can use that port to tune OBD II cars.

Mines a 94 v6. Guess its the old jumper the pins and count the cel blinks to get the code.

Why don't you just get an EFI setup from a newer Jeep?
