Symptoms of intermittent coil pack failure?
#11
Fixed !!
Just completed swapping out the coil packs on my son's 2001 V6 and my 2002 V6. And the problem of intermittent mis-firing is gone. As we said before, we both had the same issue on both Mustangs...We change spark plugs, wires, air filter, gas filter, etc and never fixed the problem of "skipping" or mis-firing at low RPM and underload....
Thanks to Mustang Forums and this post, we ordered the coil packs (with a 15% off, free shipping and a life time warranty) for about $56 each.... three bolts and 20 minutes later.. problem solved.....

Please tell us where you got such a great deal on the coil pack. I wouldn't mind having one on hand, just in case.

GreggBig, I also am curious as to where you placed an order for it for $56 with a lifetime warranty and would appreciate it if you were willing to share the information with us.
My 2001 I just bought is also experiencing the same issue, typically in first and second gear, during acceleration, the car will occasionally feel as if it is surging and the car will shake back and forth quite forcefully. My initial thought was the Coil Pack as well, I just have not gotten around to replacing it yet.

AdvanceAuto for the BWD Coil. $68.99 less 15% for purchasing on line with free shipping. Still 15% off orders over $50. Not a bad deal...... So because I needed two (one for my son's and one for me) I got the free shipping for being over $75. Great deal.

I had the same problem a couple months ago, My car was stuttering badly when going from a stand still if I tried to hit the gas even moderatly hard, and sometimes just randomly at random speeds. Took it to aamco and they said it was the Coil Packs that had gone bad. They replaced it for me and the problem was solved.

i suffered for a month with this same problem, no SES light for about 25 of those days. Hooked it up to a snapon computer and the mechanic didnt see any red flags (tho i guess it might show under ignition or the specific cylinder if you knew to look)
per my dad's experience with an early '00s v6 ford work van he told me to buy an ignition coil pack. bought a new one on ebay for like $38 shipped, installed in 2 minutes. car ran fine and i went on with my life.
not sure how people spend $70+ for these ignition coil packs but they're all over ebay for half that.
