Default Most economical way of boosting my 01

Ok, I've researched and read a lot on boosting a 6. Yes, I would love to just get a v8 but I love my car. I'm wanting to put a turbo on it. Im not looking for ppl to insult me or my intelligence on cars as I am very mechanical, however, I have absolutely no dealings with turbos/chargers. My car is solid and runs great. Never been ran hot. But its got 160k miles on it so I'm not sure if it can handle too much boost and for how long. Im not wanting a crazy setup. A buddy suggested a turbo off an old turbo coupe thunderchicken. I've even thought about the cheap over seas "ebay specials". Neither of which I'm opposed to. But what all do I absolutely have to have with it. Do I have to have injectors? What's the min size? Is it worth doing without an intercooler? What is the cheapest way to get a turbo on my car, assuming I'm doing the wk?

Not sure about the turbo itself but you'll need 42lb injectors and a svt focus fuel pump as far as fuel goes if you're shooting for like 300 rwhp

idk if he is here, but a member on my moddedmustangs.com forum JT builds the hot side piping for 700$ I think. Ebay kits dont come with Hot side ... thats why they are so cheap.

And yes I think the TC turbo would probably work fine but im still unsure. I think it was JT telling me he used to run one or a small "stock" turbo of some sort like that. Started making boost at like 2800rpm so It was simular to the "right now" power of a supercharger.

He can help you a lot on a small turbo set up like that !

In the end im sure you'll be seeing 3-4k$ for a turn key/tuned set up.

Id hit him up though. Hope to see you join there too.
Also, lots of FI guys on v6power.net

Not to run people off this forum, it is good, but some forums are better for some things.

In short your engine will need to be rebuilt/honed to carry the load of FI. If you don't you'll be lucky to get another 40,000 miles out of the car. It would also be a wise idea to get forged internals. But, by the time you do all this you will have spent more than enough money to trade in and pay for another faster car.

You can boost a stock motor as long as it's in good shape.
Turbo is gonna be the most expensive way to do it. I'd skip it and go for the supercharger. And starting to make boost at 2800 isn't like a supercharger... that's a lot of spool time.

Pro Charger makes a good intercooled set up that is bolt on for the V6. I'd look into that.

2800 spool isn't like a supercharger thats for sure Matt.... buy then he would be a car out on a supercharged car with the same amount of boost.

procharger / vortech both make setups that you can find some what cheap now days.

Maybe on an centri. My M112 was well into boost way before 2500 when going to WOT.
