can this be repaired?
hello
To be short, here is the story. Due to specific Chicago winters and a lot of salt on the roads, the rear wheels encountered some damage on the outer lip.
I've attached a pic., but it seems that in the pic. the damage is more prominent.
Anyone encountered this before? And what would be the materials and steps necessary to restore it.
thank you

Since it's polished it can be repaired but it will take a LOT of elbow work. basically tape off the painted area and sand with somewhere around 200 grit (you can move the starting number up or down depending on how bad the pitting is) to start with until the pitting is gone. Then move to progressively softer and softer grit paper till you get it nice and smooth. afterwords take a buffing wheel and use compounds in proper order till you achieve your mirror shine. easy said, not so easy done. it will take a few hours to a entire day depending on how fast you are and the condition of the wheel.
oh yeah make sure to sand in a cross hatch pattern.
