Default 96' v6 to 91 5.0..

hey whats up guys, ive been posting up alot recently, appreciate the help. Got a new question. My head is messed up, i got coolant coming out of the header bolts. So i believe its 5.0 time. I got a friend who has a 91 5.0 running healthy. I wanna put that 5.0 engine in mine. I know my input shaft is longer than the 5.0's input shaft, but since i have my bellhousing, it shouldnt matter right? another thing, besides the whole computer, any other wire harnesses i have to change? And besides the fuel pump, any other pump? and will the a/c hoses go connected? thank you

I am not exactly the authoritative voice on swaps, but I am pretty sure you are in for a project if you try this... You will likely need a new K-Member, since the 5.0 from a Fox won't have the same mounting points that the 3.8 does. I don't think your bell housing will work - Pretty sure different length shafts require different thickness bell housings - and that is even if the bolt pattern matches. Not to discourage you, but you would be money (and definitely time) ahead to either fix your 3.8 or find a 4.6. Also, don't forget about our friends in the EPA... It is technically illegal to swap an older engine into a car that is intended to be registered and driven on public highways. So, if you do the swap, enjoy your track car.

are you sure? everyone has told me that the 5.0 bolts right on because it was the same engine that was on the 94/95 gt's.

The 96-98 Mustangs are completely different than the 94/95s which are completely different that the 87-93 Mustangs. In short the project isn't worth it and will not work. You need everythign out of a 94/95 Mustang GT/Cobra, not just the motor. While the 87-93 5.0 blocks are the same as the 94/95, the 94/95 is setup completely different to fit inside the SN-95s body design and hood clearance. To put a foxbody 5.0 in an SN 95 you need a cowel hood. K member should be the same however the engine mouts are different.

In a nut shell you'd need:

Complete 94/95 wiring harness
94/95 speedo
94/95 transmission (the V6 tranny is different than the GT trannies)
94/95 ecu
94/95 rear end assembly
94/95 cooling system components
94/95 vacuum system components

These are to list a few of the mountain load of things needed.

While similar notice the differences.

87-93 5.0 GT/LX

94/95 5.0 GT/GTS

Dont forget you will have to upgrade the brakes as the pre 99 V6's have single piston calipers which DO NOT stop very well. You will have alot more weight up front and your going to want to spot it at some point.

Oh Damn, Never mind. You guys think i should just fix up my 3.8? Like Since i have the heads off, might as well open up the engine to like a 252 and porting the upper and lower intake. Whats your guys opinion?

Are you sure? Ive seen alot of New Edge V6's with duel piston calipers where I only have single piston.

Also to OP look at either Splitport swap, Single Port M90, splitport M112, or 4.2 conversion. All are good option for more power but not exactly cheap.

i started looking into split ports, And i saw i could go with the windstar from the 4.2l f150 or i could go with the 99/04 windstar. If i go with the 4.2l i could just change the heads, put the winsdtar upper, get a cowlhood and the wiring from the 4.2l? or would i have to do more mods? Because i have the heads off of my car already, and i want to give it some more power, but im not trying to go all out either.
