Radiator problem?

Default Radiator problem?

I have a 96 3 .8 just bought it i changed the headgaskets thermostat and waterpump car runs fine dosent overheat and factory guage reads good if i open the radiator cap thereis pressure and antifreeze shoots out even though i waited overnite to check fluid is this normal? On a side note the black metal pipe that goes in the top of the water pump do they sell that? Is it suppose to have an o ring on it mine leaks a little form it thanks for any help

No, thats not normal. It shouldn't be under pressure once the motor has cooled down overnight. That would indicate a bad or wrong radiator cap to me. The cap controls the amount of pressure in the system.

You can contact your local dealer to see if it is still available. Other then that, check your local junk yards. Yes it does have an o-ring. Good luck...

Could be bad head gasket too. If the gasket fails into a water jacket that can over pressure the cooling system and cause this problem. If its not a total failure this can be intermittent. Never hurts to do a compression check anyhow (maybe even change plugs while your at it and it won't feel like a waste if there aren't other problems
