Default help needed with rear end

Hey guys i had my 02 stang in the shop to get the rear rotors and pads done while the mechanic did that he mentioned to me that my rear diff had alot of play in it .

I figured that since the car has 170xxx k on it it could be the gears so i called mustang specialteax located in georgetown ontario to see if i could get the gears upgrade to 3.73 and get a tlok installed, he told me its not a good idea on the v6 rear end and they are prone to breakage anyone here has any advice as to how valid that claim is and has a better mechanic since this dude quoted me 1600 dollars

thanks guy

detroits hold up well in the 7.5, not to mention they are a bit lighter then 8.8s, also, if you buy an 8.8 you might just be swapping in someone elses headache and have to rebuild it any ways. for the average v6 theres no need to upgrade to an 8.8 unless you get a good deal on one thats been rebuilt (with proof)

i guess i will be looking for someone who sells that in ontario and maybe a reputable shop to install it cause from the looks of it and doing a bunch of reading online it seems like he was just trying to make more money by selling me the gt rear end

There is no reason not to put a Ford posi unit in a stock"ish" car. Im running 3.73's with a posi, SSM heads and intakes and I have not broken my 7.5 yet. If you are not planning on going extreme (FI) or jumping on it every weekend at the track then a 7.5 with gears and posi unit is not a bad thing.

I love my Auburn Pro Series LSD in my 7.5. Ill truly be able to put it to the test in the next month or so.

The frpp tlok is a hit and miss. I've read that some ppl have em and no complaints on more than stock HP.

I have a friend that broke his tlok in his 98 v6 automatic (neutral drops) with true dual exhaust and k&n drop in for mods.
